CLIMBING MT. KILIMANJARO - 6 DAYS MOUNTAINEERING
Necessary items needed for mountaineers
Quilted sleeping bag, torch with spare batteries and spare bulbs, tennis shoes for the rainforest and moorland, a waterproof jacket for cold conditions climbing boots, light raincoat, hard underwear, hat, gloves, warm sweaters, sunscreen and lip balm, good sunglasses, water bottle, small rucksack to carry yourself, rucksack (possibly with lock) to be carried by porters. Note that the porters carry their loads on their heads.
If you do not have this equipment, it is available for hire at Marangu.

It is fundamental to use sky light filters at high elevations, less sensitive film with 15din for bright areas and 17 or so for use in the dark rainforests.
Day 1: Arusha
Arrive Arusha from Nairobi. Overnight in hotel.
Day 2: Mandara Hut
Connect from Arusha to Marangu Gate with porters and guides. Have picnic lunch
and start off your hike. Take dinner and overnight at Mandara Hut, 9,000ft.
Day 3: Horombo Hut
After breakfast, climb to Horombo Hut, 12,000ft. Dinner and overnight at the hut.
Day 4: Kibo Hut
After breakfast, take on your climb up the mountain to Kibo Hut, 15,450ft.
Dinner and overnight at Kibo Hut.
Day 5: Uhuru Peak
Wake up early morning to climb to Gilmans Point, 18,640ft. Then hike to the summit Uhuru Peak, 19,340ft. Start off descending up to Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Arusha
After breakfast, descend to Marangu Gate with an overnight in an Arusha hotel of your choice at extra cost.
