TRADE FAIR IN TOP GEAR
All is set for the 14th Uganda International Trade fair 2006 (UDITF), with over 700 companies from 32 countries already registered to participate. The theme of the Fair is “Building Global Partnership”.
Addressing a press conference at Uganda manufacturers’ association UMA board room yesterday, Uma Chair man Abid Alam said the exhibition kicks off on 4th October and end on the 10th of October.
We expect more exhibitors this year from both within and outside Uganda since all sectors of the economy especially have this year been given special discount rates for the space, Alam said.
The UMA executive Director, Hilary Obonyo said new exhibitors included: The Plastics export promotion council and crystal plastics and metallising PVT of India, Hardware deals for steel products, safe south Africa (security equipment) , Liquifire, c-tile, Uganda national Council of science and technology, Frenah safety for industrial safety wear and Iqra Africa ( electronic equipment).
Participating countries include; Indonesia, India, china Kenya, South Africa, and Pakistan.
To boost the entertainment for show goer grounds bondering the Nakawa market area covering 10,000 q. meters have been demarcated for promotions and reaction” Alam said. Nile Breweries’ sponsored Eagles production Band will perform on October 9, while fashion shows will be held on the 7th and 8th sponsored by Tiner school of beauty. President Yoweri Museveni is expected to open the exposition on 5th October with his Rwanda Counterpart, President Kagame presiding over the closing ceremony on October 10th.
Entrance fee stays sh3000 for adult and sh1500 for children.
The fact that many countries are going to attend the trade fair this year, this will aid in marketing the Uganda tourism .
