UWA has assured protection to the communities around Mgahinga and Bwindi national parks.
This was after realising the problems that communities living around these are facing.

These park neighbours have been facing animal attacks that have destroyed their crops which have even led to killing of these animals in retaliation.

The two park that is Bwindi impenetrable national park and Mgahinga gorilla national Park are the only park in Uganda that harbour one of Uganda’s Unique tourism highlight the Endangered the Mountain gorilla -Gorilla Beringei.

The communities include; all the neighboruing districts of the parks that is Kasese, kisoro , Kanungu and kabale districts.
