CHOGM HOTEL STAFF TO BE TRAINED
Uganda Hotel staff who will be attending to guests during the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in November are attending refresher courses. The two firms that are providing the teaching are; Universal Institute for Securities in Investments and Kenya Utalii College.
This three-month training, prearranged by the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Industry is particularly pointing at staff in hotels that are located in the districts of Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono and Jinja.
So far, at least 65 hotels were recently selected to provide accommodation and the selection still continues.
Cuthbert Baguma the assistant commissioner for registration and inspection of tourism facilities in the ministry of tourism said the refresher training would provide hotel staff with contemporary skills on how to deal with guest internationally.
He added that though we are already prepared for Chogm in facilities, even the quality of the services that the hotel staff provide have to be improved and it is through these refresher courses that the services will be improved.
The two firms handling the training are; Universal Institute for Securities in Investments and Kenya Utalii College.
