STRIKE IN BRITISH AIRWAYS ENDS

British Airways’ cabin crew have ressolved the all along strike that had been prevailing. The cancellation of the strike was however too late to prevent the flight from being cancelle

The airline’s chief executive,Willie Walshsaid that he was pleased that the ammendement and peace talks with the workers union brought better agreements that led to the end of the strike. He applauded the cabin crew for the good job they did to ressolve the strike and affirmed that the pledge laid a good foundation for British Airways to enhance better services and better working conditiond for their employees

He pledged that they would venture to reinstate the flights.

Flights are part of the tourism industry in Uganda which bring alot of foreign exchanage to the country in the way that they bring in alot of aspirant tourist and hence tourism develoment.

BRITISH AIR WAYS FLIGHTS TO BE RE BOOKED

Passengers that had booked with British Airway to travel between the 29th January and 16th February 2007 have been advised to reschedule their bookings. This was after a threat that by the British transport and general workers union to hang on a strike.

The british airways country and commercial managerMawadri sia din a press relaese of the 23rd January that British airways was facing a worrying situation and therefore entailing all their customer to re make their bookings.

British airways workers have been protesting over the unfair working conditions ever since the company made a restructuring plan that left many of them jobless

Mr. Geaorge mwadiri howver promised prosperity and success chances to the fullest though the workers kept on demanding for relaxation in the managementpolicy to check approval of the pay increase, sick leave and more labourer to increase on their staff.

All these demands added together were seen to increase the compan’s expenditure to £37 millions.

PARK OFFICIALS MEET WITH LOCAL COMMUNITIES OVER ENCROACHMENT

The Uganda wildlife official around the wildlife sites of Mbale have met with the local communities to discuss on how they will sort their bad relations. They came up with their ressolutions that were understood and among them was to settle their disputes given the fact that they all need the resources. The officials explained to the communities on how the park is supportive to the community and their for there is need for park -community relations.

Different communities have been complaining about the bad relationship they incur with the Uganda Wild life authority surrounding areas. A communitity resident called Loy Namanzerye of Buwabwala sub-county, Manafwa district, claims she was harassed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority officials while collecting firewood from a section of land that borders Mt. Elgon National Park. This was during a meeting between the wildlife authorities and the residents. The wildlife authority claims residents have encroached on the park yet encroahments spoil the ecosysystems of Uganda’s beautiful parks.

DOLLAR APPRECIATES AGAIN OVER SHILLING

The dollar rates has again apprecaited due the the rising demand.
Last year in the christmas season, the US dollar was depreciated because of the big number o tourists that Uganda recieved. This big number of tourist was evidenced by over bookings that were realisd in the entire tour and travel industry. Now that the holiday is over the dollar rate is appreciating every now and then and it is anticipated to reach 1850 Uganda shillings cost. The USD dollar is the most commonly used currency in the hospitality, tour and travel industry so it is highly demanded and even regarded legal tender in Uganda next to Uganda shillings.
