NAIROBI EXCURSIONS
Thika Special (1/2 day)
Thika town is 45kms from the city centre and within the town you find the Blue Post Hotel. The hotel was first established in 1908 as a stopover for the white settlers who farmed and lived in the central part of the country on their way out and back to the city. During the Second World War in 1939, the British Army camped on the site and built up a few bandas whose posts they were standing on were painted blue hence the name 'Blue Posts'. Two rivers namely Thika and Chania River have a natural waterfall surrounding the hotel popularly known as 'Hidden Jewel of Thika'. Both rivers originate from Aberdares Ranges though different sources.
Windsor Golf Trail (1 Day)
The businessman's choice - Spend all day at the Windsor Golf and Country Club playing golf or at leisure. Tour includes lunch.
Carnivore Experience (Guaranteed daily at 12.30p.m and 07.00p.m)
With a wide variety of cuisine offered by restaurants in Nairobi, we recommend a dinner or lunch at the Carnivore, which is famous for it's succulent steaks and barbecue, dishes including game meat and is therefore dubbed "the meat eaters" paradise. The restaurant also offers a vegetarian menu; the meal is an excellent complement to a holiday especially as a welcome or a farewell dinner. Just a few kilometers from the city, numerous 'bomas' or homesteads reflecting Kenya's cocktail of cultures have been faithfully re-created for visitors to see traditional village life. The greatest excitement during the afternoon visit is the display of the traditional dancing, music and songs performed in a splendid arena.
One Night at 'The Crater Lake', Naivasha
This is a luxurious tented camp on the lakeshore less than 2 hrs drive from Nairobi. The final resting place of Lady Diane Delamere widely renowned as Kenya's most romantic tented camp with thrilling night game drives with expert trackers. Optional activities on this trip would include a boat ride on the Lake or the nearby Lake Naivasha, a bird-watching tour around the Lake, Horse riding or even golfing at a close-by Golf Resort!
Day 1:
After breakfast, depart from our Nairobi office driving south via the Great Rift Valley enjoying the panoramic views enroute.Lunch upon arrival. Siesta time then afternoon game viewing drives. Dinner followed by night game drives.
Day 2:
Pre-breakfast game viewing drive followed by continental breakfast and then drives back to Nairobi arriving around noon.
Karen Blixen Museum/Giraffe Manor/Mamba Village (3 Hrs)
This half-day tour visits the Karen Blixen Museum at the foot of the Ngong Hills, the farm and home of Isak Dinesen of 'Out of Africa 'fame. This is a pilgrimage of a woman admired universally, both for her spirit and her writings. This is followed by a visit to Giraffe Manor, the wildlife conservation center and home of Daisy, the world famous Rothschild giraffe who starred in the film "The Last Giraffe". Finally your tour will take you to the Mamba Village to view the crocodiles.
Nairobi National Park (4 Hrs)
This unique wildlife sanctuary is just a few kilometers from Nairobi's bustling city center but despite it's proximity over 50 species of mammals can be found there, including four of the Big Five. The tour also includes a visit to the animal orphanage at the main park gate.
Nairobi City Tour (3 Hrs)
The tour covers the modern city center, the colorful city market, the Parliament buildings, the Railway Museum and the renowned National Museum where there are spellbinding displays of early man, tribal regalia and the flora and fauna of Kenya. A visit to the adjacent snake park is also included.
Carnivore Special (Nairobi National Park, Lunch Carnivore, Bomas of Kenya)
The National Park, only 8 kms from the city center, is Nairobi's pride, for no other bustling capital can boast a paradise of wildlife almost on its doorstep. The morning is spent tracking some of the many species found in the Park, which include rhino, lion, buffalo, leopard and cheetah. After lunch at Carnivore Restaurant continue to Bomas of Kenya for a fiesta of traditional music and dance. Return to the city center in the evening.
Hell's Gate (1 Day)
Depart early in the morning and drive through the Rift Valley (with lunch in Naivasha). Proceed to Hell's Gate National Park past Fischer's Tower. You will visit the Geothermal Power Plant at Ol Karia and the Hot Springs. Hell's Gate is the only park that officially allows transport by walking and bicycling. Have a chance to see the largest of the vulture species-Lammergeyer vulture.
Lake Nakuru Express (1 Day)
Lake Nakuru lies in the volcano-strewn Rift Valley, one of a chain of 8 lakes, which stretch the length of Kenya from Tanzania to Ethiopia. The 160 km drive from Nairobi passes through highland farms of the Kikuyu people before descending an escarpment into the dramatic landscape of the Rift. Lunch is taken in the Park and is followed by an extensive tour, which focuses on the bewildering spectacle of a million flamingos but which also, seeks out the large variety of wildlife with which the Park abounds.
Amboseli Express Trail (1 Day)
Amboseli National Park lies within the shadow of mighty Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain. Game is seen on much of the route to the park. After lunch at a lodge in the park, another game drive follows in which lion, elephant and cheetah are likely to be seen. Return to Nairobi in good time for dinner.
Tree Hotel (1 ½ Days)
There are three tree hotels in the vicinity of Nyeri about 160 kms north of Nairobi. Treetops and the Ark are in the forests of the Aberdares Mountains and Mountain Lodge is on the slopes of Mt.Kenya.
Day 1: Nairobi-Tree Hotel
The drive passes the small industrial town of Thika surrounded by extensive pineapple plantations. Lunch will be served at a base hotel in the afternoon, proceed to your Tree hotel where the night is spent and where a procession of forest animals visits the floodlit waterholes and saltlicks. Elephant, rhino, buffalo, giant forest hog and many other species are commonly seen.
Day 2: Tree Hotel-Nairobi
In the morning descend to your base hotel before returning to Nairobi in time for lunch
